A comprehensive development program was undertaken to identify stabilising carriers and additives to enable the RAPClot, OsPA and other snake venom-derived prothrombin activators to be formulated into commercially available tubes with a competitive shelf life at room temperature. The formulations have been designed to optimise stability under industrial irradiation conditions.
Formulations combining snake venom-derived prothrombin activators, colloid carriers and other stabilising agents are the subject of Q-Sera’s Patent Family 2.
Q-Sera tubes were designed to be manufactured using:
- Standard plastic blood collection tubes
- Standard spray coating techniques for tubes
- Standard irradiation techniques
- Easily sourced formulation components
